BROOKFIELD, Wis. – Elite Fitness and Racquet Clubs is providing swimmers with another choice when they hit the pools this summer – indoor and outdoor pools purified with rock salt. Elite was the first fitness center in the state to utilize this technology back in 2001. Despite the many healthful and aesthetic benefits compared to using liquid chlorine, Elite remains the only fitness center in southeast Wisconsin to use this method of pool purification.
“A pool purified with rock salt is really great for people who have sensitive skin and for those who worry about drying out their hair and want to preserve their swim suits longer,” said Elite owner Kay Yuspeh.
In addition to being less abrasive to skin, hair and bathing suits, the rock salt does not leave a chlorine smell that sticks to hair and swim suits. It also cleans pools better than it’s liquid chlorine counterpart. The rock salt is added directly to the pool and it chemically mixes with the water to produce chlorine gas. The chlorine gas purifies water better than it’s liquid counterpart because it is a purer form of chlorine.
“The rock salt really works well,” said Elite Maintenance Supervisor Harvey Koeske. “The water stays much cleaner and our members appreciate the extra perks of having this kind of pool.”
