"The power of red light was originally harnessed by NASA, which proved that it helped to heal wounds and burns, and it has been used — successfully — for the treatment of skin cancer. As with many medical breakthroughs, the cosmetic benefits of red light subsequently emerged and it's now becoming widely available. We've all heard of infra-red light, which is invisible. But the fast-growing trend is for visible red light — a gentle and effective way of healing and rejuvenating skin." (Daily Mail) Benefits: Unlimited packages for only $79 (introductory price)! All four of our Elite Sports Clubs have convenient steam rooms in each of the changing rooms. Towels are provided for all individuals who wish to partake in the wonderful benefits of our steam rooms. Steam baths are known for relaxation and stress relief, but steam room benefits also include: Heat causes your blood vessels to expand, which increases blood circulation. As a result, more oxygen and nutrients can reach damaged parts of your body. This has a double effect of temporarily reducing or stopping pain as well as increasing your body's healing rate. Spend 10-15 minutes in a steam room post workout and you will speed up healing of damaged muscle tissue. The high concentration of moisture in steam baths has also been proven to be effective treatment for respiratory conditions such as: Regular use of a steam room can improve not only your health, but also your appearance. Nothing is better for your skin than a heavy sweat. Heavy sweating cleanses your skin more thoroughly than soap and water because it opens your pores and allows deep-seated grime and dead cells to be flushed out. This is one reason steam baths can be helpful for acne treatment and some other skin conditions. The heat of a steam room also causes an increase in blood circulation, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to your skin surface. Over time, this can help contribute to a healthy, glowing appearance.
We are proud to offer clean and relaxing dry cedar saunas at Elite Sports Clubs. Saunas leave your body soothed and your mind serene. However, it's main advantage lies in the fact that it promotes sweating, helping the body to rid itself of toxins. The skin is a major eliminative organ. Due to our modern lifestyle many of us don't sweat, especially during the winter months. Modern synthetic fibres or tight clothing that doesn't allow the skin to breathe, can damage our skin and our natural ability for elimination, as does excessive prolonged sun exposure. A sedentary lifestyle also inactivates the skin. Our skin is exposed to hundreds of chemicals during the course of our life, and is affected by them. From innocent bath products such as shampoos, shower gels, lotions and soaps to deodorants. Household cleaning solvents, detergent residues on clothes and chemicals from the bath or shower water also affect the skin. Regular use of the sauna gradually restores the skin's elimination ability. Sweating removes toxic chemicals and metals faster than other detox methods. It is also believed that exposure of the skin to heat stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Locations: A few recommendations to help you reap the best rewards in your sauna: 9. Give yourself sufficient time for your sauna session. The sauna is no area for anybody who's in a hurry. For many sauna buffs, a usual sauna sequence consists of: a warm shower; 15 minutes in the sauna heat; a cool shower and optional dip into the swimming pool, and then a ten to thirty minute relaxation period. People with high blood pressure or heart problems, however, are advised to avoid swimming in cold water after their sweat bath. 14. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with a member of our staff. We are happy to accommodate or help you in any way possible. Follow these basic suggestions for a satisfying, soothing and secure soak in the sauna, and you'll be a veteran sauna enthusiast before you know it.
Hydrotherapy, or warm water therapy in whirlpools, consists of three main healing ingredients; heat, buoyancy, and massage. Together, they create an experience that is both relaxing and healthy. Whirlpool hydrotherapy on a regular basis provides physical health benefits that go much deeper than just relaxation and pleasure. Water is so pure and simple, yet it can do the most amazing things. Whether you are experiencing joint or muscle pain, having trouble sleeping, or are just plain stressed out, spending time in a whirlpool can provide therapeutic benefits for just about everyone. Locations: Stress, headaches and sleep Muscles and joints Arthritis Diabetes Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and more Overall, hydrotherapy studies have shown that the health benefits of immersion in warm water with massage jet action include the relaxation of muscles, lowering of blood pressure, loosening of arthritic joints, as well as help with the control of blood sugar and body weight. Reminder: A body temperature of 101º F and above can raise concerns during pregnancy. It takes only 10-20 minutes in a standard whirlpool to raise your body temperature to 101º F or higher. Please use caution when choosing to partake in whirlpool therapy.
